Weekend Racing Review

The Lincoln Industries Crew were out in force this weekend at two different events. In Kansas City we had the Dam Race in Perry, KS. In Lincoln we had the Angry Cow Adventure Race in Panama, NE.
Scott and I both rode in the Cat 3 race at Perry in a field of about 35 riders. 5 laps with a big hill and a decent cross wind section on the dam. Scott rode at the front and kept the field in check for the first two laps. On the third lap a rider got off solo and I bridged up to him only to have him sit up when I caught him. Later in the lap two other riders got off the front and I bridged up to them and we were off to the races. A short time after our group formed a fourth rider made it up to the group and that was it. Strong pulls from everybody in the group set it up for a sprint up the hill. I ended up leading out the sprint and ended up 3rd. Not too bad after riding at my limit in the break. Scott finished off his first race of the year somewhere around 15th?(I'll have to check results later today)

This must of been early in the race!

Troy and the Team Prize!
Kevin's write up on the Panama Enduro:
Today, with my wife taking over the shuttle duties for Noah's swim meet to Omaha, I met PC and we rode out to the Jim Craig's Angry Cow Enduro in Panama. It was fun...And PLENTY hard. In the end Chapman pipped me in the sprint ( this is getting to be a habit ) and James B rolled in for 3rd, followed by the Lincoln Industries team of TK, CS, Trevor and Jessie P(Monkey Wrench). Those guys rode in the Team Category, while, PC, Blake and I did the Solo gig. The Team guys were kind enough to hang back so the drama could unfold for our 3 man solo category sprint coming into Panama.
Beautiful day, long ride what more you could ask? Jim C. had some sweet little twists on the way with a creek crossing in StageCoach, plus some other single track there, plus some new sections in Wagon Train for just a taste of sweet juicy single track flavored with lots o gravel.

Spring Racing Starts

Last weekend was the start of the road season in the Kansas City area and a few member of the team got a start on their season. Chet made the trip from Lincoln to give the Saturday Spring Fling crit a try and then follow it up with The Dam Race on Sunday. Good turnout on both days made the races tough but it's good training for this time of year. Chet had a good race Saturday and finished in the field for 22nd place.

Sunday I ventured to the Dam race along with Chet. Under cold and very wind conditions we started the race in a good sized group. During the race I got off the front of the group with 1 other rider only to be caught with one lap to go. At the finish the field sprinted up the hill with Chet finishing 9th and myself 14th. Not a bad start for this time of the year!

Racing continues in the KC area for the rest of the month. I'll post updates as they happen.

Scott had a SRAM Force group ready for his team frame so he got it built up a few days ago. Sounds like they ride nice so I can't wait to get mine built up. We should have parts shipped next week and on top of that the Team clothing should be shipped next week as well.

The weather is beginning to turn to spring with longer and warmer days. Team members have been getting in those long base miles no matter what the conditions. We should have a schedule of events for the blog soon. The racing season begins next week with a MTB event and a road race.

Team Kit, check.....Team Frames, check

This week the Team's Fisher frames arrived and the whole crew is fired up! Our SRAM parts groups should arrive sometime in February and then it will be time to build 'em up. The new team clothing is also on order and slated to arrive in time for the the start of the season. Everything that we hoped would happen for the team has panned out and now we just are just training as best we can in these frigid temps. I hope to get some pictures of the new clothing design for the blog soon. Stay tuned.......

Craig and Troy braved the temp in the teens this weekend to get in some training. Nice work boys!

The 2009 season is near!

It's hard to believe that the 2009 cycling season is just a month away! Just last week was the last cyclocross race for the season in Kansas City!

The final cross race was the Grote Prijs Shawnee in Shawnee KS. Race day was greeted with a balmy 40 degree temps and sun, crazy conditions for January. I had taken some time off the bike since Nationals so I decided to race the Masters race and then do the 1,2,3 race an hour or so later. It was more of a quest for fitness than results, a fun way to end the cross season! It was fun duking it out with the local KC crew during the races and I even managed a 3rd in the Masters race and 6th in the 1,2,3's.

So now it's time to put the cross bikes away and look forward to the coming season.

After Cyclocross Nationals most of our team members called it a season and took some time off the bike to get caught up with the things in life that you put aside while you are training and racing. But now the bug has bitten and I see evidence that team members are beginning to prepare for the 2009 season. Everybody has been working on their base miles on the road or mountain bikes and I hope to organize a training camp sometime this spring.

yea, sometime after Craig's water bottle thaws out!

2008 Cyclocross Nationals, Kansas City, MO

The 2008 Cross Nationals is in the books and all of our riders had great rides. The conditions in Kansas City changed on a daily basis challenging the riders with slippery mud in the early days, to power sapping soft ground in the last 2 days. As you probably noticed from the prior post Troy and I had a good day on Thursday and opened up with a 2nd and 3rd in the 40+ B race. This race is just a warm-up for the National Championship events held in the next 3 days.

We had 5 riders from the team participating in 3 different events during the weekend.

Here's the results:

Masters 45-49 Tom 19th,
Troy 22nd,
Kevin 75th

Masters 40-44 Craig 78th
Juniors 13-14 Noah 26th

KCCX 2008 Cross Nationals: Day 1

KCCX Day 1: The day of the killer B's. All of the B races go today. I guess it gives racers and the promoters a chance to check things out before the races for the stars and stripes jerseys start.

Troy and I had a good race in the 40+B race and finished 2nd and 3rd. Craig raced and got caught up in a early crash that ruined his chance for a good finish. Look for future updates as the weekend progresses.
